Mission: Families Vision Council, partners, and UWCNM staff members attended one of two Trauma Informed Training for Business Leaders sessions delivered by Dr. Craig Pierce of Southwest Family Guidance Center and Institute.

Our goal is to meet families where they are,” explains Mission: Families Executive Director Sondra Slivon. “This type of training helps us develop a shared understanding and common vocabulary around trauma, ACEs, and resilience which will help us move the work forward.”

ACEs are adverse childhood experiences.

As a result of the training, Myers Godwin, NDI Albuquerque Director of Development and Ready Children co chair plans to take his entire staff through the training.

I couldn’t stop talking about it. I shared the information with my wife and other colleagues throughout the week.”

Thanks to Dr. Pierce for facilitating the training sessions and to NDI New Mexico for making the Hiland Theater available.
